KAUZA and Kantar's Worldpanel team (the folks who analyze what people buy) are hiring a senior software engineer with reverse engineering skills. This job is in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Goal:
They're building a new platform to give their clients much better and faster insights into consumer shopping habits. Your main job will be to help get this platform launched and then make it work globally.
What You'll Actually Be Doing (The Techy Part):
- The Data Source: They have a mobile app called "WhatIBuy" where users submit their digital receipts. This is where the raw "shopper data" comes from.
- The Challenge: You'll be responsible for figuring out how to reliably get data out of these digital receipts. This is where the "reverse engineering" part likely comes in – digital receipts come in all sorts of formats, and you'll need to write code that can understand and parse them, even if the formats aren't nicely documented.
- Building "Scalable Data Extractors": This means you'll be designing and coding systems that can automatically pull the important information (like items bought, prices, store, time) from a huge number of these digital receipts. "Scalable" means these systems need to handle more and more receipts without breaking a sweat as they expand to new countries.
- Near Real-Time (NRT) Data: The aim is to make this shopping data available very quickly after it's collected. So, your extraction processes will need to be efficient.
- Global Scale-Up: They have big plans to launch this in many new countries ("markets and landscapes"). You'll be key in making sure the tech you build can handle different languages, currencies, receipt formats, and the sheer volume of data that comes with a global operation. This involves thinking about things like distributed systems, efficient data processing pipelines, and robust error handling.
- Maturing the Tech Stack: You'll be working with their existing technology and helping to improve it, making it more robust and ready for this expansion.
Your background will look like this…
- Full Professional English Proficiency (C1 Level minimum required).
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years of previous professional experience in Software Engineering preferably in back-end development and cloud infrastructure oriented roles.
- Programming experience with (but not limited to) Typescript and/or Python.
- Familiarity with SQL and RDBMS (BigQuery / PostgreSQL).
- Considerable professional experience with Cloud Services platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP) and infrastructure.
- Considerable experience with System Programming and Cloud Computing.
- Familiarity with reverse engineering and vulnerability analysis.
