Apprentice, United Kingdom

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship at Kantar?
When considering my options post A-Levels, I knew that going to university full-time didn’t feel like the right option for me. Through research, I found that a degree apprenticeship would allow me to work and gain experience whilst studying towards a full degree and so I felt that this was the best option for me.
I decided to join Kantar because the company’s values aligned with my own and so it felt like a good fit for me. In addition, Kantar has an incredibly supportive and inclusive culture, which is something that was very important to me.

What does your day look like?
My day-to-day role often involves working alongside my line manager as well as other members of my team to work on client requests, briefs and presentations to help answer clients’ key questions whilst also taking ownership of clients’ monthly reports. In my role I have also been given the opportunity to present and deliver insights, not only internally, but also directly to clients.

What inspires you to succeed in your role?
I am inspired to succeed in my role and to achieve my goals by being in a positive and motivating environment and being surrounded by people who support and encourage me to continue to grow and develop.

What might people not realize about being an apprentice?
Those who are not familiar with my role may not be aware that it can be challenging to balance university, work and social life. This is because, as a degree apprentice, you spend 80% of your time working whilst 20% of your time is dedicated towards studying for your degree. Therefore, being organised and managing your time is key to managing university work and assignments alongside working full-time.

What advice would you give someone looking to do an apprenticeship?
I would advise anyone doing an apprenticeship to seize and make the most of every opportunity, even if it pushes you out of your comfort zone. You will have a tonne of opportunities available to you, and these will provide you the chance to keep learning and developing.

Enough about work, what do you get up to when you’re not working?
Outside of work, I enjoy doing Ballet and playing the Piano since I find that they both help me relax, unwind and also boost my creativity. I also have a dog and spending time with him is one of my favourite things to do.
